چکیده
Periodic limb movements during sleep (PLMS) are characterized by recurrent episodes of repetitive, stereotyped limb movements, predominantly occuring in the legs (American Sleep Disorders Association, 1997). It is observed in up to 30% of the general population (Trenkwalder, 2004). Uremia, iron deficiency, peripheral neuropathy, radiculopathy, spinalcord and brainstem lesions are known to cause PLMS. PLMS has been reported after pontine lesion (Kim et al., 2003) or supratentorial cerebral infarction (Kang et al., 2004; Sechi et al., 2008).We present the first case in which PMLS has developed following cerebellar infarct.

Unilateral periodic limb movements during sleep as a prodromal stroke symptom: A case report
Periodic limb movements in sleep (PLMS) is characterized by recurrent episodes of repetitive, stereotyped limb movements that occur during sleep. There have been a few reports on this condition developing after a stroke, but the movements in these reports were not prodromal stroke symptoms. We describe a case in which PLMS developed as a prodromal stroke symptom. A 78-year-old man experienced r...

INTRODUCTION Sleep movement disorders includes mainly periodic limb movement and others. The more frequent breathing disorders are: obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome and primary snoring. OBJECTIVE To compare sleep architecture in periodic limb movements and breathing disorders of different severity, and weight their interactions. METHODS We compared sleep architecture in 160 patient...

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Sleep disorders, including sleep-disordered breathing and periodic limb movements during sleep, are associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular diseases, which are the leading causes of death in patients with ESRD. This study investigated the association between sleep disorders and mortality in patients with ESRD. DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS, & MEASUREMENT...
متن کاملSleep disorders in cerebellar ataxias.
Cerebellar ataxias comprise a wide range of etiologies leading to central nervous system-related motor and non-motor symptoms. Recently, a large body of evidence has demonstrated a high frequency of non-motor manifestations in cerebellar ataxias, specially in autosomal dominant spinocerebellar ataxias (SCA). Among these non-motor dysfunctions, sleep disorders have been recognized, although stil...
